This is so sad, my sympathies to all of her family. I have been thinking of Dublin all weekend on and off. We are so fortunate to have made these connections thru the board and it amazes me that this goodbye to a beloved BB member, one I've never met, spoken to, seen or even personally corresponded with, can make me feel such loss. You will be missed Dublin.

This song by Paul Williams is very touching. If I could have found a version not sung by the Muppets I would have played it at my Dad's funeral. My Dad loved the Muppets but some in the congregation might have thought it disrespectful.

When the Mountain Touches the Valley

When the mountain touches the valley
All the clouds are taught to fly
As our souls will leave this land most peacefully
Though our minds be filled with questions
    In our hearts we'll understand
When the river meets the sea

Like a flower that has blossomed
In this dry and barren sand
We are born and born again most gracefully
Plus the winds of time will take us
With a sure and steady hand
When the river meets the sea

    Patience my brothers
    And patience my son
In that sweet and final hour
Truth and justice will be done

Like a baby when it is sleeping
    In its mother's loving arms
What a newborn baby dreams is a mystery (a mystery)

But this life will find a purpose
    And in time we'll understand
When the river meets the sea
When the river meets the almighty sea

    Godspeed Dublin

After having been out of town for the weekend I made it from page 23 to 29 and I have got to stop for now. I have to agree that it's difficult to type through the tears.
Another tally for someone who never met Dublin but knew her through her posts and often looked for them as a source of optimism and knowledge.
Also another tally for yet another who can't think of something to say that hasn't already been said. So at risk of repeating everyone else.
David, I'm so sorry for your loss and happy for the wonderful times that you had. Also hope that you won't be a stranger, have to agree with the sentiment that there are now a huge number of people who would jump in front of a bus for you simply because of how well your wonderful wife spoke of you. God bless and know that our thoughts are with you, as is Deed.

My love to Dublin's family and friends.

Dublin, please hug my "Jane" for me. I miss her! She's a blast to ride bareback. Please have a gallop on her - but don't squeeze your legs too hard. She'll buck you off! And... when you brush her off she'll bite your butt, so be careful.

Take care of yourself and kiss all the critters in heaven - especially the horses.

Goddess called a good one home.
I know Dublin will be busy greeting all the angels who came to welcome her, and all the animal spirits you've named. And that she'll watch over Mr. Dublin with an even higher love than she gave him while in her human body.

Goddess's grace and strength uphold and sustain you all. Blessed be.

Dublin--what else is there to say but thank you for being you and for sharing your time on this Earth with us.

Dave--know that this intense pain and loneliness will get better, that you will be able to take comfort in her presence when you need her near and that she is busily watching over us all doing the things for us and guiding us in a way she could not while bound with the earthly chains of mortality and disease.

GOD--A heartfelt thank you for gifting us with this truly special, incredible human being--thank you for our time with her, thank you for easing her passage from our realm, and having "met" her wonderful spirit here...I can't blame you one bit for calling her home.

    We love you DeeDee

This poem by Mary Oliver is one of my favorites. It will probably seem sad at first, but also seems to me anyway to reflect the eternal cycle of life... My deepest sympathies, Sue L

    Look, the trees
    are turning
    their own bodies
    into pillars
    of light,
    are giving off the rich
    fragrance of cinnamon
    and fulfillment,
    the long tapers
    of cattails
are bursting and floating away over
    the blue shoulders
    of the ponds,
    and every pond,
    no matter what its
    name is, is
    nameless now.
    Every year
    I have ever learned
    in my lifetime
leads back to this: the fires
and the black river of loss
    whose other side
    is salvation,
    whose meaning
none of use will ever know.
    To live in this world
    you must be able
    to do three things:
    to love what is mortal,
    to hold it
    against your bones knowing
    your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
    to let it go.

I am so sad for all of us as well as Dublin's loved ones and close friends. I only had the pleasure of knowing her here, on this board. She was and is like a shooting star - we stand in awe of her brillance (especially her wit!) and are warmed to our very souls by the glow of her existence. Many, many condolences to the ones she loved and who loved her.

I am in awe of and deeply moved by the depth of feeling expressed here by those fortunate enough to have known Dublin, the effect she had on a multitude of lives and the strength and support she was given both from this virtual community and from those who knew her in "real life." What a wonderful woman. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Erin sorry I am repeating myself....but could we chip in for a full page in COTH doing a collage of DD and her horses? With Merry's wonderful post.

I am certain that Dave will help us.
