    Default Well, CRAP.

My mare was due April 23. She's been looking like she was going to go early. I've kept an eye on her for the past few days and all day today. Nothing. Milk test over 7, vulva normal, bag same as the past few days.

Went home and flipped on the cameras and there she is standing in her stall. Nothing exciting. Watched for an hour. She went and laid down, very quietly, looked like she was napping. Flipped to other view and see feet! Rush out, and the baby is mostly out. Red Bag. Couldn't revive the baby. Pretty little bay filly with a white star, would've been a gray.

I can't post what I really want to say. damn it.

Oh I am so sorry! Can you save a red bag if you'd been right.there? (I'm sorry I don't know this). I breed JRTs and I know how heartbreaking it is. Breeding is not for the faint of heart.

What a tragic loss. So sorry you are going through this. Peace to you, the mare, and the lost little one.

Kryswyn, yes in theory. That's the hardest part. I had been suspicious of one all along. Even had an oxygen tank on the ready.

It all happened so quickly. It was a super easy delivery for the mare. She never even broke a sweat. The tailhead was actually firmer tonight than yesterday.

The mare is coping better than I am

Hugs for you. It must be so hard to even comprehend what has happened. Best to you and the mare.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know it isn't any consolation, but it is possible that even had you been right there with the mare that nothing could have been done.
