Default Intro Test A -no halt at X?

I'm hoping to debut Fella in into this year and was looking at my Digital Horse animations. Intro Test A just starts right up with no halt and salute at X. I just want to make sure this isn't an error.

You are reading things correctly. There is no halt at x in intro A

It's an awesome website with all the test with a birds eye view animation with narration. For me seeing the test from above makes much more sense than looking at it from ground level. Subscription is not expensive and it's good for a year I think. There are some sample tests so you can see what I'm talking about.

This is not a solicitation. I do not benefit from describing this to you. I love it so I'm just sharing the joy.

Am I crazy or did there used to be a halt at X? I've been away from dressage for years so forgive me if this is a stupid question

I asked on the other board and another poster said that Intro A has no halt at X because they found young greenies were really challenged to enter at a trot and halt so the halt is at the end. B and C have a halt at X.

Sometimes it isn't so much the halt, but getting started again with that Scary Judge standing in front of you!

You will also fnd that the lower level Eventing Dressage tests have no initial halt at X.

Thanks. I joined PVDA, and my trainer wants me to pick 2 shows. I'm going to try to do more (schooling shows at least) since my boy Carl Hester says if you can do it you should show every weekend just to get used to it!

I'm so glad you posted this question! I am also looking at debuting my new boy this year and noticed that there wasn't a halt in the Intro A test. Glad I'm not the only one.

I also found the test on Digitial horse...and I believe I'm going to subscribe. They give very detailed descriptions about the test, and it really looked like a good training tool. It's nice to hear some additional opinions.

You are not crazy. The old tests did have a halt at X.

My poor mare, who has LOTS of experience with the old Intro tests including quite a bit before I bought her, was so confused the first time I did the new Intro A and didn't halt her at X. She tried to halt and I had to boot her. ("Really, mom, you really don't want me to stop here???? Really really????") This was the first show after her surgery and rehab and I didn't want to canter her in front of a judge because her canter was still very iffy, so we did Intro A and B (and won!) We're pretty much past Intro now... doing TL and starting to school some First Level moves, so hopefully we won't have this issue again.
