I'm venturing over from eventing land, and I apologize in advance for even asking this question, as I don't know how you guys feel about brown tack in the dressage ring in general.

BUT...I'm looking for a brown dressage bridle for a gelding in my barn. He has a Nunn Finer bridle right now and the stitching is destroying itself after only a year, and even though that one does come in brown, I'd like to steer clear of that brand.

I did a search on here but didn't have much luck...any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Dover Saddlery has quite a few dressage bridles available in brown. Not sure about quality, but its worth a look.

I have a nice Stubben in brown that I found at our local Expo on sale a few years ago. It's quite nice. They had a similar selection this year.

I'd contact John Nunn about that. He'd probably be horrified and offer you at least a partial refund.

Also, IMHO there's a marked quality difference in Nunn Finer's Asia-made bridles and the ones made by Bartville Harness Shop in the USA. I am not one of these "made in the USA" obsessive types, but in this case the local Amish product is way more product for the money. My barn is full of the Bartville-made equivalents of the $265 Nunn Finer Event Bridle, and they're wearing like iron after a year of use.

But if you really insist, Ovation/Red Barn/5 Star make some nice brown bridles that are suitable for dressage.

Bobby's $150-180 line has a brown bridle that has absolutely gorgeous leather in a mahogany color. I just ordered my third one for my new horse (he's full size, and my other two bridles are warmblood size: a snaffle and a double)

After 11 years, the snaffle is still going strong (and I've not been too easy on it, lol).

Everything in the Bobby line can be order in black or either of their two brown colors.

I only wish they had a shaped monocrown option... Sigh

Jerry's Harness Shop will put together either a custom or will put one together using standard parts. For instance, if you need a full size bridle with cob cheeks, it's not a problem. Excellent customer service, too.

I have a very beautiful dressage/eventing bridle from Devoucoux in brown--but the leather is VERY soft/luxurious and so you DO have to keep and eye on it for stretching (mine is holding up very well)--I was very careful on the sizing to accommodate any stretching-so far so good and its wearing well.
