Default Germany to NY - Cost to Import

I know this cost fluctuates, but if anyone has imported recently, may I ask for an estimate of the cost for a gelding. Thank you.

I was recently asking my instructor this, only I was asking about the cost of importing from Holland to Arizona (so probably more expensive). She said that to factor in everything, meaning not just the flight, but also the stay in quarantine, traveling from Los Angeles (where they fly into) to Arizona, etc. is roughly 10k.

Figure 10k. You will have: Health paper requirements, shipping to airport in Europe, flight expense, shipping to quarantine location, quarantine cost, shipping to where you are.

$7-$10k for a gelding or young horse. Mares and stallions will be more.

I did Germany to NY for a gelding several years ago (2004). At that point it was about $5000-$6000 which included getting picked up at the barn in Germany, shipping to Amsterdam, staying there overnight, flight to JFK, shipping to quarantine, & 2 nights in quarantine. Mares & stallions have to stay in quarantine longer so it costs more. I went through Peden Bloodstock.

Prices have changed a LOT from 2004 and aren't applicable anymore.

It is correct that it is just about 10K to LA. I just imported a gelding last week! and it ran $9100 not including trucking after release from lax quarantine.
NY will be a tiny bit cheaper.

Yes for geldings to NY, I would say between $7000-$9000.

Sorry! He is a beautiful German riding pony, bay with a star and 2 socks. Super sweet. He is loving his new home and new mom in Los Angeles.

From where we are to NY (incl. Quarantine) we've dealt with $7,087 US recently. We're about one hour west of Hanover if that helps you anything.
On top you need to get the horse from Newburgh (JFK quarantine) home so it really depends on the ground transfer costs whether you end up at 7K or 10K
