Default Human Omeprazole for Ulcers In Horses?

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day that has a horse with suspected ulcers. She said that she is using generic Omeprazole for humans on the mare. I have heard of UG, GG and blue pop rocks for horses but not human kind.

Has anyone used human Omeprazole for horses? What is the dose? Is there any difference?

The dose is 2 grams for a "full treatment dose", so that's about 100 human tablets for the full horse dose. Kind of pricey. Otherwise, no, there is no difference except that the human tablets are meant to be swallowed whole and not crushed and the same goes for the capsules. Since it is a somewhat fragile drug when exposed to acid, protecting it does matter and you can't just crush pills or open capsules and expect it to work properly.

Is the "full treatment dose" 2 grams per day for 28 days?

I believe Gastrogard is 2,280 milligrams per tube, so pretty close to 2 grams.
