Who is going to see Hunger Games!
I have got to admit to being psyched. I loved the books (and I am a 30yo adult), and I made it my goal to get as many of my fellow grad school classmates as possible to read it this last month. It might have been dettrimental to everyones grades, since once they started they all became obsessed and we are headed into finals week. My proffessors are even reading it now. We are going as a class to see it after our last final exam on friday. So far the reviews look good, and I loved the directers other two movies (Seabiscuit and Pleasentville) Anyone else excited?

I am, although I hated the third book and I wanted to smack Katniss upside the head during all three books during several points.

Loved all three books too - was very sad to see the end of the trilogy. I'm 28 and I just read them Cannot wait for the movie, the trailer makes it seems like it will follow the book fairly well. I'm super excited! Not seeing it until April 1 though with all my sisters-in-law and nieces (I live out of town, we are meeting halfway), or I'd have to go alone.

I did have a difficult time geting myself to finish the third book. The first two just flew by, but the third one crawled. I didn't hate it, I just found it less enjoyable. As for Katniss being an idiot sometimes, that is part of what I liked. I hate it when the characters are "perfect"

I can hardly wait for the movie. I loved the books (the first two quite a bit more than the third), and think they will be great on the big screen. From what I have heard, the movies will be straying out on their own a bit which im excited about. usually im a bit obsessed with movies and books being conjoined at the hip, but for some reason I really want to see how far they can take this story, because I dont think it was quite finished in the books. I think a bit of creativity from the makers will suit it well.

What I hope is that the movie isn't ruined by turning it into a teeny love movie. The books are violent and bloody and the world they take place in his harsh. Katniss isn't in love with Peeta at all in the first book.

Loved the book, have BIG reservations about whether it can be made into a movie that ISN'T rated "R"... but the reviews have me hopeful.

Going to see it with friends but not until it's been out for a few weeks. I have no patience for teenagers in large groups.

I can't wait to see it. I've read them all twice and love them, especially the first two. I'm really happy with the casting; I think they'll do a great job.

I haven't read the books, thought the trailers looked mildly interesting, but was on the movie's website and one clip just killed my interest (and roughly 12 different characters). It's violence porn. And crappy, lame, unimaginative violence porn.

Me too. There are certain scenes from the book that, no matter how violent, I think are very integral to the plot and should be shown as-is but I don't know that they will do that especially since they involve children.
That being said, I"m SO excited to see it. I get all goosebumpy when I see the trailers on TV.

Honestly, the movie isn't "violence porn" -- the books are very violent. But that's what the story is about. I think the movie will be very difficult to do properly because it would need to be rated R....I'm not sure there is any way to actually tell the story without it being that graphic. So...I am excited to see the movie but am expecting it to be somewhat watered down.
What I find interesting is the number of schools that have read this book in class and some will be taking their classes to see the film. I wonder if the parents of the kids have read the books? I have a 13 year old and have reservations about her reading the book.

Read the books. I'm very picky about what I read and I was hooked. It's not violence porn, honestly.

I just read a newspaper article about this today, how teachers are using it in class to spark discussion on current themes like video game violence, privacy laws, reality shows, propaganda, etc. I think it'd be a great book to get students critically thinking about what they read.
I think the violence issue is interesting to think about, how much is appropriate for what age. I'll actually be seeing the movie with my friend and her 13 year old sister (who loved the books).
