Default Reasonably priced hay in VA/NC/MD?

Would anyone be willing to share their supplier with me? Our local prices have gotten absurd and if I can get it cheaper, I am willing to travel to get it. TIA!

Good luck finding reasonable prices. Here in Pennsylvania the going rate for grass hay is about 10.00 a bale. Yikes!

"Reasonable hay price" and "early spring" cannot be used in the same sentence, unfortunately. Summer is coming! Check your farm bureau or county extension for notices of hay auctions, or stop by some big, well-run boarding farms and see if they have some to spare to get you through another 8-10 weeks or so.

Six weeks ago, a friend told me about a lot of grass hay available near Warrenton for about $4 a bale. I haven't seen it. Mr. Guy Thorpe, Farm Manager at Oakwood Farm.

The farmer in Hamilton, where I get timothy round bales, may have square bales of timothy. Last year, I paid $5.50 a bale. Tommy Payne (540) 454-3678. It's very nice hay.
