I have notices a lot of ottb's from Canter around here. I thought it would be cool to show pics of your CANTER horse and tell us all a little about them!

    I'll start...

    Henry (House of Fortuny)
    2006 Gelding
Coming along nicely as a Hunter
    16.2 Hands
(Thanks the Kat and Andy for most or all of the pics!)

    Your guy is dashing...
I have a canter mare we have had almost a year.....I am out of town (on a tablet), but will try and post some pictures later....
Our mare came with some soft pallet issues and has had it pretty easy while we were resolving those....Looks she is cleared for regular work, so hope to gain lots of ground...
    Loved your blog.

I'll share. This is my CANTER baby. She'll be 4 in March. Here she is the day I brought her home from her trainers as a 2 yr old. Doing her favorite thing. Eating.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s_picture2.jpg

Here she is for her first ride at home. Still only 2.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...stRide07-1.jpg

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...stRide02-1.jpg

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...stRide01-1.jpg

This is here as an early 3 yr old. Mid growth spurt after her first trail ride.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...fpasture01.jpg

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...fpasture04.jpg

Then I have a big stretch of no pictures...thanks to wedding planning...getting married and currently house remodeling and moving. But she's still growing and here she is just this past week doing her first cross rail.

    And she's currently butt high...again.

I have Super Carson and I am pretty computer challenged to post pictures and my daughter is doing homework and Mr. Stolen and my son are at hockey practice, so my usual suspects for picture assistance are "otherwise engaged". I think Carson's Canter video is still available and he has been with his baby trainer since June 2011 and is doing very well.

He is learning to use his hind end and doing some jumping. He gets regular chiropractic work since the hind end work causes him some discomfort at times. I am riding him Sat & Sundays and all is going well.

    Pictures to come.

I sold him a few years ago but I wish I hadn't. I'll be lucky if I ever get my hands on horse that talented again.

I was browsing CANTER PA back in September and saw a little guy that I just couldn't live without...an adorable 16 hand, 2yo gelding named Java Cat. He only had one start under his belt and he was put together pretty well, so I figured I'd take the plunge. Three weeks later, he made it home to Alabama. We changed his barn name from Junior to Fendi.

Here are a few shots from the day he arrived. I was in Vermont the day he got here, so my friends took these for me...

    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=3&theater

    Cute, huh?

So...He arrived on Saturday, I got home late Sunday night and went to the barn to meet him and feed him some cookies. I played with him Monday...here are a few shots from that day (hopefully these links are public...they're on my friend's FB page)...

    Showing off his big trot...

    Stretching it out...
    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=3&theater

    And generally being adorable.
    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=3&theater

So, I work out of state, and I left on Tuesday. That Friday (yep, 6 days after he arrived), I received a call from the barn owner/trainer saying that she went to bring the horses in and she found him standing outside with his head held sideways and blood pouring out of his mouth. Turns out that she decided to turn him out with a new boarder's gelding, who has back shoes and is aggressive. Fendi had been kicked in the face and his right mandible was shattered. He spent a month at the vet. They had to put a plate in because an inch of his mandible was GONE. Then, of course, he got a central line infection in his jugular and he was miserable from that. He lost a ton of weight and looked totally miserable. I'll spare you the pics of that whole incident.

Needless to say, I was devastated. We got him home and the he started feeling a little better...but he was terribly bored on stall rest and still awfully skinny

    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=3&theater

To top it off, the BO "didn't always have time to handwalk him" among other things, so I ended up moving him to a new facility. The staff there spoil him ROTTEN and take excellent care of him. He is now getting to go out on a dry lot, so he's feeling a lot better about life...

    Being a goober...

    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=3&theater

We just got him x-rayed again, and we can start working him in April! April is also when he can have regular feed, grass, hay, and COOKIES. Of course, he still has (and will always have) a big ugly right jaw But at least it wasn't worse (I keep repeating that to myself so that I don't go postal over what happened to the poor little fellow)!

    Lumpy side...
    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=3&theater

The new BO refers to it as "masculine". We'll go with that for now

This is the mare I showed last summer. She belongs to my coach. We actually have 3 CANTER horses in my barn. She was never registered since she only ran at a track once before they realized she wasn't a race horse. Her name was X F Rockaway. She came away from her last horse show in September, she came home with a 2nd and 3rd over fences, and a 2nd in the hack.

Here she is when we first got her in late March, and her first time jumping a little baby course.

And showing in the Modified Hunters in August.

I got my CANTER mare 2 years ago as a coming four year old. She'd gotten a bow training for her second race, so the first 6 months were spent rehabbing. (which invovled me hitting the ground rather more than I like to... though I've gotten hurt worse not falling off than I have falling off.) I love her, but she is a little hot, pushy, explosive and athletic, so I find myself feeling jelous of everyone who comes on and posts about how their OTTB is the easiest horse they've ever ridden... She started OF a little bit last year. We took a break from jumping when it got cold in the fall (did I mention that she's hot, explosive and athletic?) And now I think we're ready to really start jumping. I'm hoping to show her this summer. Her registered name is Perfectly Blended. Her barn name is Smoothie... I have no photographer... This is from two years ago. http://m53.photobucket.com/albumview...BBIhCsGD5yo%3D

Here is my heartbreaker - loved this horse - I had to euthanize him on 4/26/11 due to a hole in his diaphragm - we did everything to try and save him.. still breaks my heart. He was the most lovely mover and jumper I could have ever asked for with the kindest heart..
