    Default Rider with most 4* finishes?

    I was watching an old Rolex tape and Phillip Dutton was riding 3 horses which got me wondering how many he's ridden in his life. I assume there's a limit to the number of horses one rider can ride in the same 4* event but if you ride a few every year you would really rack up the numbers!

    Anyone know which rider has ridden in the most 4* events?

    Honestly, of living riders I'd guess WFP or Mary King, simply because they have access to so many 4* events.

    I'd guess at Andrew Nicholson, 30+ completions at Badminton alone.

    My guess would be Andrew Nicholson. He's had 2 or more horses at Badminton/Burghley since the early 80's, and he holds the record for most double clears at Badminton (i think). Since he comes to KY and Pau as well, I can't imagine anyone would have more.

    Bruce would have given him a run for his money if KY had moved up to 4 star earlier

    My guesses would be Andrew Nicholson, William Fox Pitt or Mark Todd.

    Mark Todd didn't compete for 8 years, while the others were racking up completions. I'd say Andrew Nicholson or William Fox Pitt.

    The FEI site only goes back to 2002, but for what it is worth, in that timeframe:

    Andrew Nicholson started 47 and completed 37, with 3 WEG starts and 3 finishes;

    WFP started 51 and completed 45, and was 3 for 3 at the WEG;

    Mary King started 38 and completed 31, and was 2 for 2 at the WEG.

    Phillip Dutton has started 25 and completed 22, and 3 for 3 at the WEG.

    Nicholson and King are both older (b. 1961) than Dutton (b. 1963) or than WFP (b. 1969).

    My guess would be Andrew Nicholson just because he has a few more years on him at that level than WFP. That said, was it common in the early parts of Nicholson's career for him to have a 4* string, as opposed to a few horses?
