    Default so how is equine metabolic disorder different from pssm?

    my twelve year old haflinger mare was just dx with equine metabolic disorder.
    i am researching it and keep coming up with pssm refrences.
    so are they the same and if not how are they different?
    thanks, my poor girl is in for a long haul. thank heavens no indication of laminitus, but she's so cranky and miserable already.

    Try searching for equine metabolic syndrome. PSSM is a muscle disorder. EMS is related to insulin resistance, obesity associated laminitis, etc.
