    Default is this a splint?

I found a chickpea sized lump on the cannon bone inside of my mares RF. The trimmer happened to be out that day, so I asked her what it was and she said probably a splint. This was Wed. My mare is a little sore on that leg anyway, so I couldn't tell if it was making her sore. It wasn't hot, and it was hard and didn't seem to bother her if I touched it. Anyway, today is Sat and its almost gone. Its flattened out. If I didn't know it was there, I probably wouldn't have noticed it as it is now, or thought anything was wrong. She's a little less sore today, but her lameness is usually a come and go thing, so not sure if its related.

    Any ideas?

Could very well be a splint. On and off lameness is often how they present. I'd get it x-rayed to see.
