So while cruising through kijiji (Canadian version of CL), I often stubble upon ads the read something like this...
'Owner off the college, must sell-
8 yr old TB mare, has raced and has bone chips in her ankles, but has never had any problem, but probably shouldn't be jumped-
has been shown in schooling shows and won a 3rd and a 4th'
Pictures are more like a family album than sales pictures....teenager with her arms thrown around horse, older gent (Dad maybe?) holding horse, proud as punch...toddler leading horse...you get the picture.
Asking price, $2500.
Too sad. they probably won't be able to give away a horse like that in this economy.
Always makes me so sad for the horse, and the kid too...
Change is never easy, and You know the reality of horse sales. I'll bet You also know the importance of a horse to a family like this. I can see why this would make you sad for the family and the horse. It makes me sad too... But one never knows, the horse could find the perfect home
It makes you sad because you have an idea of where the horse is going to go. People like this have no idea of the horse network and are likely to let the horse run down, then spot an ad in the paper, "Horses and ponies wanted. All kinds." And then...
