    Default Saddle Racks/Tack Rooms

I need a saddle rack that will hold 2 english saddles to put in a tack room. I have found the ones they have at Schnieders. Does anyone have any ideas or a homemade one? I am looking for something that doesn't cost a lot of money.

    Thanks

I am digging the looks of the Schneider's one with the open end blanket rack on the bottom. Dover has a similar one, but it is a continuous tube to the rack and won't work with a bigger pad.

Have yet to see it in person though.

Or do you mean a free-standing, portable one? I have heard good things about the one from TSC (for the price)...

When I was a kid I put my saddle on top of a bookcase. When I lived in an apartment in Lex I put a roll of paper towels on top of the pass through and put my saddle on that. If you can find a cheap upholstered chair at the Goodwill you can put the saddle on the back of it, and every trainer I've ever known stacks their saddles on top of each other on their saddle racks.
I bought the TSC free standing thing because now I have three saddles and not enough bookcases or chairs, LOL. You'll think of something!

These have served me well for 8 years now.
They go right up the gullet so no pressure on the flocking.
Of course, you do need a board to slip them over.

My husband and I built our own. Well, he did two sets that hold 4 saddles each and then I built one that holds another 4 saddles. 1 2x4 that attaches to the wall with screws. Another 2x4 that holds the saddle and another 2x4 that supports the saddle.

Kinda like this but with the support piece connecting further out. I also beveled (or trimmed) the top of the saddle 2x4 so that it help the saddles without tipping them.

Very cheap and really easy to do. You need a saw, or a skill saw and a drill. Took me only a few hours of time.

I just built two last fall. Very easy. Two pieces of 2 X 10 for the ends, with an inverted V top, flat bottom about 2'6" or 2'9" to the top of the V. Two pieces of 2 X 6 on either side on the bottom, and "feet" at either end like a jump standard (knock the sharp corners off the tops of these so you don't stumble over them). Four pieces of 1 X 4, two on either side of the V for the top. Make it as long as you like, mine is 4' long, holds two saddles, portable around the tackroom.
