Default It has been a long time..

It has been a long time since I had babies, and I want to send my mare out to foal. What is included in the "foaling fee" ? How much (about) can I expect to pay for mare care and foal care? Any recommendations?

If you can find a reputable farm who foals out mares, your cost will be:

    Mare Care: $18 - $20+ per day

    Foaling: $250+

    Mare Care + Foal: $22+

I did this twice, but since then have set up a camera, lost a lot of sleep, and delivered my own foals. This is easier and less stressful for the mare. You also will not be transporting a new foal and a fretful mother. Nor will you be exposing your mare and foal to other "germs."

However, if the mare should have trouble foaling it is always best to have her in a place with a truly qualified foaling person.

Good Luck and enjoy the thrill of raising a foal.
