Default Ok need some help, and ideas... How to find my horse trailer I sold in '97

I know this sounds silly but if I can I'd love to find and even more outrageous, buy back my old trailer.

Here's the kicker. I did call the folks I sold it to awhile back but they don't recall who they sold it to.

I have the vin and am not sure that'd help me much as there isn't a "CARFAX" like service online for trailers.

So here's what I do know...

It's a 1995-96 Model 4 Star 2 horse Slant Gooseneck with dressing room, w/out rear tack.

It's all aluminum with no stripes or color. I bought it from Huffman Trailers in Harrisonburg, Va and I think it had a sticker from there on it.

It's got a ramp in front of the front stall so you can unload the front horse. It's dressing room access is on the passenger's side. Drop down windows practically all around. Insulated roof and built in brush boxes on the floor of the tack room.

I sold it to folks in the Middleburg, Va area in 1997.

    Does anyone have any ideas?????

    Thanks in advance...

Trailers have to be registered as well as cars so why not go to your local DMV and see if they know a way you can at least find what state it would be in using the VIN #? I don't know of anyone who would give you the personal info of the owner though. It would be a lot easier to get a new trailer !

Possible longshot: call the VA Dept of Motor Vehicles and see if they can help you. Be prepared for the fact that they may not be willing to give a name and contact info (privacy issues and all that), but they may be able to confirm that it is still registered in VA. If it was sold out of state or junked, then you are probably out of luck.
