You should post this on the other Toto thread. I love this photo.

Toto looks so relaxed and happy on the trail ride. In most of the photos he looks happy... certainly happier than he tends to look now.

This one gets me and my heartstrings going. Even if I could ride well enough to be a pro, I don't think I'd make it. I'd be too damned sentimental.

i highly doubt it is a "trail ride" it is either on the way to the show arena or a photo shoot. or, do you think Gal hacks in his show ring best ?

i am just going to add that you all created this - those folks that are frothy about what is happening what "toto" is doing, etc etc.

He is what he is because there is money in it and his fate is because of money. that money comes from you all... so maybe you should all point your fingers at yourselves??

might make as much sense as pining about "Memory Lane" and how happy he used to be etc. (like any of us know anything about him in the real sense)

I've just seen the footage of him at their stallion show. Nothing happy about that

As other poster said - photo shoot or photo SHOP. he could have been walking out of a ring and his image superimposed over a different background.

Picture EG standing in his house - "hmm, think I'll take the ol' boy out for a hack... wonder what I should wear? chaps and and a sweater? Those everyday beat-up boots? Oh, heck, I'll just throw on the fancy duds make sure they still fit, an' all...and hey, who needs a helmet, he's a quiet fellow!

Edward truly loved that horse and did right by him. I don't think there will ever be another team like them.

?? but you are the ones that created this ..... you, the audience , are the ones that created the froth that lead to this result.

don’t you all see this? that by making stars out of horses and riders that this is the result?

and by continuing this kind of thing you are just perpetuating this kind of monetization of our sport?

Regardless of WHERE it is... he's on a long rein to the buckle walking, hacking style, from Point A to Point B. That is a hack. A hack doesn't have to be a 50 mile trail ride. A hack is merely a relaxed little trek, even for 5 minutes. That's all that needs to happen.

No, MBM, 'we' didn't sell the horse down the river in order to throw more money on the top of the money pile.

"We" can make them stars and idolize them. But until 'we' deposit the check, we aren't accoutable for his zip code. Not by a long shot.

The photo was taken at Rotterdam, where there is a short hack from stables/horseboxes to the arenas.

Regardless of the politics of Gal vs. Rath, it is a gorgeous, serene photo.
