    Default 10 Riders & Horses Selected for Markel / USEF Young Horse Training Session

    Here is the full list of the Selected Riders & Horses selected for the Markel/USEF Young Horse Training Session that will be held at Shannondale Farm, in North-Metro Atlanta on Feb.18-19.2012. This is the first in a series of Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Training Sessions that are open to the public. Congrats to all riders and owners of these warmblood athletes. I am looking forward to the event !!

    "Ten riders & horses were selected from a large number of competitive applicants. The horses selected are aged 4-6 years. Each rider & horse are scheduled for both a Saturday and a Sunday training session with Scott Hassler. All of the horses selected are in full training and are currently preparing for 2012 FEI Young Horse Dressage competition.

    Horses of 2008:
    • David Myers of SC riding Finneus, a Westfalian gelding by Fidertanz owned by David & Stacie Myers and bred by Gina Frisk
    • Ashley Marascalco of GA riding Hadrian HVH, a Hanoverian gelding by Hotline owned & bred by High Valley Hanoverians
    Horses of 2007:
    • Dawn Jensen of SC riding EMC Legacy Gold ESE, a Hanoverian mare by Liberty Gold owned by Sherry-Anne Smith and bred by Laura Trumbower
    • Jessica Barnes of GA riding EMC Demitasse HF, a Hanoverian mare by DeLaurentis owned & bred by Haralson Farm
    • Sandie Gaines-Beddard of NC riding Flairance, an Oldenburg mare by Serano Gold owned by Sandie Beddard and bred by Clemens Von Merveldt
    • Jennifer Flowers of NC riding Zucci Royal, a Friesian mare by Arjen 417 owned and bred by Nancy Williams
    • Stacey Hastings of NC riding Lysias, an Oldenburg gelding by Licotus owned by Stacey Hastings and bred by Steffi Becker
    • Ashley Marascalco of GA riding Radiance HVH, a Hanoverian mare by Rotspon owned & bred by High Valley Hanoverians
    Horses of 2006:
    • Karen Lipp of GA riding Baximilliana, a Dutch Warmblood mare by Johnson owned by Karen Lipp
    • C. Michelle Folden of SC riding Rania, a Danish Warmblood mare by Don Schufro owned & bred by Susan Bender "

    HVH - first congrats on having two horses on the list! Do you know how many of the 10 are US bred?
    Second, I find it interesting that 7 of the 10 are mares. (I'm a mare fan myself...)
    I think the training session would be fabulous to audit; hope the turnout is good.

    Seven of the horses were bred and born in the USA !!! And it looks like a field of kick butt mares. Only one 5 yo and both 4 yo's are geldings.

    We are thrilled that two of our youngsters were selected !! We have an excellent YH trainer, Ashley Marascalco. This is her first year competing in the FEI YH classes. Wish us luck !!
