Default Can someone give me some insight on this swelling?

I am looking at this horse as a trade. So far, I have only seen pictures. In all the pictures there is a "pouch" under his jaw. Not sure what it is. Strangles? She claims that he is healthy. Any helpful thoughts? Is it worth going to see him? Should I just say "no way"?

    thanks

Can you find out if it is hard or soft?

I am guessing it is something dental and not strangles related. The strangles bump would be higher up.

    How old is horse?

He is 13. I will ask her if it is hard or soft. She is hard to get in touch with, so might take me a day or so.

Could it possibly be a tooth abscess? Either way, that is NQR and I would definitely have it checked out to rule out anything even more serious.

Could be an abcess, could be a dental issue, could be a tumor. PPE. Yes, even for a trade.

    Ask her what it is.

When I first talked to her I asked about it and she said "I don't know, that is just the way his head is"

Thank you everyone, I think I will pass. I don't want to send my girl to her after thinking about it.

Does the horse in the picture has registration papers?
I would also question his age being 13 if not.

That bump could be an old injury, but without a vet exam, it is anyone's guess what it is, just obviously not quite normal.

    . . .
Agree. He looks far older than 13.
