Around 4:15 pm on sumerduck rd at gassdale rd just outside of Remington, we almost ran over an entire pack of hounds. 15 to 20 dogs maybe. They were not interested in coming to us, kept on running and they were headed east away from Remington on down sumerduck rd. Using the fields on either sid of the road some but mostly running down the road. It appeared that some had collars on. I called fauquier county sheriff and also stopped at the citgo in Remington. The lady who I believe owns that station (or is always there anyway) told me they have been loose for a couple days and around her house/porch at night.
These look like nice, clean, fat hounds and obviously haven't been on the run too long as they are all in good weight. Do you know anyone who is missing a pack? A good mix of light and dark beagle-type dogs. I couldn't get close enough to any of them to identify whether the collars had name tags
I haven't heard of anyone missing a pack but I'll forward your information to some friends who have private packs.
Chances are the owner is trying to find them he's just having a devil of a time of it.
If by chance you or anyone else does catch one do not remove the hound's collar for any reason. It's illegal to remove the collar off a hunting dog in Virginia. (there's a reason that law had to be passed.....)
