Default "Clyde", a Clyde Cross, Retires from Police Force

17 years of service! Look at that loveable face - don't you want him at your place?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-16317322

    Excerpt:

"He's had everything thrown at him - petrol bombs, flares, bottles - and nothing bothers him. We often used him as the lead horse as he's so brave and responsive," he added.

Clyde will spend his retirement at a sanctuary for rescued and retired working horses run by The Horse Trust in Speen, Buckinghamshire.
"No matter how well you perform there's always somebody of intelligent opinion who thinks it's lousy." - Laurence Olivier

Wow. Clyde must be something! Article says average working like for a police horse is nine years and he made it to 17. Happy, well deserved retirement, Clyde.
"And I will be an embarrassment to all
Who have not found the peace in being free
to have a horse as a best friend."

Did you see this previous article? He got a commendation from the Queen!

Queen awards police horse Clyde at Royal Ascot

"Despite having reached the age of 21, Clyde still believes he is four years old.

"This was proved in 2009 when the clerk to the course at Ascot gave permission for the police horses to canter up the course to the four-furlong mark after the final race on the last day of Royal Ascot.

"He managed to beat far younger horses and came a commendable third."
Life would be infinitely better if pinatas suddenly appeared throughout the day.
