Default Good riddance 2011, eye removal, now tooth removal...really Lizzy???

My mare Lizzy just couldn't let 2011 go peacefully off into the sunset without any more vet bills could she???

What a year. First this summer it was the tiny corneal ulceration that became the large corneal ulceration that led to the nasty fungal infection and finally eye removal.

Now it is an infected incisor tooth that needs to be removed. thankfully we caught it!! The only sign of a problem was that I noticed a couple of weeks ago that she had trouble eating an apple, figured maybe a sharp point of something. She was due to get her teeth floated so had the dentist out, thankfully he noticed the swelling and pointed it out to me. Other then trouble with eating the apple there was not a sign of anything, she was cleaning up her feed and hay, acting fine.

Vet did an xray today and yup, tooth has to go. My vet is sending everything over to the vet that specializes in dental problems and just waiting to hear from them to schedule an appointment for the tooth to get removed.

My mare is determined to keep me in perpetual poverty....

Ouch! Poor girl.... And I mean that to Lizzy also.... Glad you caught it early though. I'm sure an infected tooth must be painful.

I also had Dr. G out Thurs to check Twinkie's teeth... Something just sounded funny when she was eating hay. Hard to describe, but she had a few small points. So, she had a Float.

Cheapest Vet bill this year...only $200.

As you know all too well...
