Default Roy Rogers "Trigger" going to the Rose Parade

Guess Trigger was purchased at auction for $266,500 by RFD-TV recently.

Now he is going to the Rose Parade in Pasadena CA.

Guess RFD-TV's "patrons" bought enough subscriptions, and contributed enough for them to purchase Trigger. As a business you can purchase most any "asset".

    My first thought is: ick.

I wonder why they put Trigger in such an unflattering pose - forever. His ears are not even forward. There are some very lovely poses of him with Roy, why such and awkward rearing position, forever?

Also read there will be a group of 200 +/- palominos riding with the float with Trigger aboard.

    Comments or thoughts?

Just that I think it is an absolute shame that both the original museum and the one in Brandon were allowed to fail, and now that all the memorabilia is scattered to the winds. Can't believe Roy and Dale didn't make provisions for the preservation of these things.

Didn't RFD get Trigger, Buttermilk and Bullet the dog? So at least those are together.

Private museums go under all the time unless the people who found them are REALLY good at creating market-based endowments big enough they can run off the interest.

I thought everything on the floats had to be covered in natural material such as flowers, wood chips, etc? I suppose this would fit under that rule, but maybe not?

I think it's gross that they "stuffed" him anyhow.
Wonder they didn't have themselves (Roy and Dale) stuffed.

I read a interview with Dusty Rodgers. He said his dad had told him that when the museum wasn't profitable to keep what they wanted and sell the rest. Only the baby boomers remember who Roy Rogers was. Today's kids don't want to look at a bunch of old stuff. RR felt like his children should be the ones to profit from the sale of it all, and not a stranger. I agree.

Roy used to joke they should just stuff him and put him up on Trigger. Dale apparently didn't think that was funny.
