Default Reasonably priced Pony Turnout Blankets

New pony in the barn is quite fuzzy and while we normally would not mind since he is not showing just yet, the unusually warm weather down here leaves him uncomfortable/sweaty. We are planning on doing a partial clip, leaving face and legs or just a trace clip however owners need to purchase a blanket for him before the clip-job takes place.

I am thinking that since he will have a partial/trace clip that one medium weight turnout would be suitable. He lives outdoors but they have stalls they pull their horses into during rain/extreme wind. ( they trailer over for lessons and keep him at home)

I have looked online for them to find a good deal on a turnout blanket. Best I can come up with is a Weather Beater Medium weight for $69 on their Stateline website. Anyone know of some better deals? Or where I might find some good used pony blankets? Or tackshops with an amazing sale right now? Trying to keep the blanket cost as low as possible.

    Thanks!

    Just For Ponies. www.justforponies.com

But $69 for a medium weight is about as low as you will find. If you go to a used blanket, the waterproofing could (probably would) be gone. I would go with new.

    Default pony blanket

I love the fit of the Amigo pony blankets. I just ordered a heavy weight from AdamsHorseSupply.com for a very fair price. They have lots of sales and very fast delivery.

I have every color/weight combination of blankets. My horse likes to tear them up when he goes out to play. I've had the most luck with eBay. Most blankets sold there are BRAND NEW through tack shops and warehouses online. I havent been dissatisfied with any blanket bought. I also wont buy anything used, do a quick search, you may find something you like for about $45-$55.

Try a local consignment shop. I bet you will find TOs at good prices.

$69 is a very good price. You can also try sstack.com.

You don't say the size of the pony, but the smaller the pony is, the more critical the fit will be. Measure carefully and ask about the drop as well as the blanket length. Shipping one back makes a bargain go bad in a jiffy.
