I always find it interesting (read - humorous!) that these experts in "European Warmblood Breeding" write a lot but never seem to say much ... even if you ONLY consider the overwhelming success (backed up by show records over more than a few generations now) of these (originally) European-bred beasties that can speak for themselves !

No, the zebra was only my example.

Seraph thinks that no matter what the breed is, as long as there is some European WB or TB in it, if you claim you are breeding for the Olympic disciplines, you can call your offspring warmbloods.

So I assumed according to her argument that if I established a breeding program of zebras, infused with TB, I could call the foals warmbloods, so long as I assure my customers that I am breeding with the Olympics as an eventual goal.

All zorses will be left au naturel, not even halter broken, until they are at least 4 years old, because they are of such incredible old bloodlines that they need to be preserved.

I didn't, but I share what I know

Among our rescues are zebra hybrids. These are a cross between a male zebra and a female horse, pony or donkey. This is the usual way to breed these hybrids, though occassionally a female zebra can be used. These striped animals are difficult to handle and are not just a horse with a striped coat. They are extremely athletic and can turn out from under a rider like no horse ever could. They are even more opinionated than a mule, and, add that to the athleticism of a wild zebra, you have an animal that is not for any but the most experienced rider or handler. Though they are outstanding in appearance, we do not recommend them as pets or as riding animals. Our zorses are rarely available for adoption.

Now what can you call this registry ?

ZORSE does sound forceful, powerful and able to leap tall buildings whilst piaffing in a single - albeit well-basculed - bound!

There is a Australian guy in France who has a zorse (Stormy the Zorse!) that does reining. I saw her ridden at the Salon du Cheval at Paris in 01 I guess? He even rode her bridleless. She does all the basic dressage movements too-shoulder in, half passes, leg yields. BUT, I think she could definitely work in CG's olympic warmblood breeding program. You should look into that CG! Could be your next fancy european warmblood import!
