Default Can you dye a helmet?

I have a pink helmet someone bought for me. I will Never wear it and I can't imagine how dirty it will get if I ever do ride in it!

Can a helmet be dyed? this is a Charles Owens helmet.

You should be wary of painting/dying a helmet in case it weakens the material. You could cover it though; http://www.sleezybarbhorsewear.com/helmetcovers.htm

    Sell it...to me!

Seriously though, don't dye it. Bad, bad, bad idea. Somewhere there will be a 12-year old who would LOFF a pink helmet.
Flip a coin. It's not what side lands that matters, but what side you were hoping for when the coin was still in the air.

You call it boxed wine. I call it carboardeaux.

Cover it and use it as a schooling helmet?

    Sell it.

    Don't dye it.

Unless it's made out of dyable satin or cotton, no you can't dye it. To dye other fabric materials it requires boiling the item with the dye and I don't think you want to do that to a helmet.

As others have said, get a cover.

I remember about 30 years ago sitting in a steeplechaser/foxhunter's kitchen using a fat sharpie to recolor the hunt caps that had faded to brown streaked with tan back to black.
These hunt caps had not faded gracefully and hence were being recolored.

Sell it! It would probably make a little girl's dream come true. I would have loved this as a kid. Actually, Id probably still love it.
