Default Why do cats try to trip people?

My cat constantly crisscrosses in front of me when I walk in the house. I have almost tripped over him quite a few times. Nextdoor neighbor's elderly and frail mother was moved out of her daughter's home because of the cats. No further explanation was given other than she had fallen several times. I suspect she tripped over the cats.

It's so frustrating as I know he will going to trip me one of these days.

    Do all cats do this?

Yes. Mine also like to flop down in front of me *right* where my foot is going to land. Many near misses there!

But as bad as the cats are, the Shelties are worse! They tend to run into the foot that's off the ground, throwing you off balance. (And if you stand still, they know how to poke that spot in the back of your knee that makes your knee unlock.)

I'm quite certain they all do this. This post reminded me of this:Diary of a Dog vs Diary of a Cat

    1) It's fun.

    2) It might jog your memory that the food/water bowl is empty.

    3) They might be named as a beneficiary in your will.
