As I was chopping up apples, oranges, and cranberries for my holiday relish, the drool was literally hanging to his knees! He loves apples, oranges, bananas, peaches, nectarines, and carrots. He will literally pull the apples off of my trees and eat them! I have never had a dog that loves fruits and veggies as much as him!
He did finally give up on raw potatoes...he used to steal them from the bag and take a bite. When he realized he didn't like it - he would go grab another one. I came home once to find 10 potatoes on my living room floor, all of them missing exactly one bite. Hubby and I were laughing too hard to scold him
I give my dog the stalk of the broccoli to chew on. He loves it. there is no waste and its good for him. He also loves carrots like your pup, I have not tried apples or any other fruits, I dont like to share I guess lol
Our older ACD believes herself to be a strict carnivore. She will not even consider eating anything that isn't meat, chicken, fish, eggs or cheese. She eats like my cat. No grain, no veggies, no fruits...if I offer them to her she looks at me like I'm insane and walks away. She must get her fiber from grass, which she does eat.
The young Border Collie, on the other hand, will eat ANYTHING. She loves carrots, apples, pears, bananas, broccoli, cucumbers, whatever. I sometimes giver her a carrot or an apple instead of a bone when she's in a big chewing mood, keeps her from eating too much fat and keeps her busy for a little while. She gets as excited about being offered a great big carrot as she does about getting a marrow bone to work on. She "buries" her carrots too, if she doesn't feel like finishing them, hiding them in my laundry basket or in my bed, to keep them away from the ACD, who would rather starve than touch a carrot .

Our GSD mix growing up would lay there waiting for any tomato piece that would fall when we were making tomato sauce or jelly.
He also would go to the garden and eat any ripe tomato he could reach, as he did the figs that fell off the trees.
Dogs are, like we humans, omnivores, will eat all and anything that we get used to and so tastes familiar to us.
meh, my CAT thinks she is a vegan. no milk, eggs, beef.Thank heavens she eats friskies turkey, but only that (well a little chicken too). She eats tomatoes, squash, rice, pepper. I keep checking under her arms to make sure she isn't growing turkey feathers.
dogs aren't carnivores! they have developed since their wolf ancestors and require some plants in their diet. Dogs cannot live without fiber, which is NOT in meat.
this isn't true. Many people feed dogs diets completely devoid of any plant material and these dogs do very well. Dog guts don't work at all the way an omnivore/ herbivore gut works.
Dogs are very opportunistic and will eat anything that might be edible, true. Doesn't mean it's good for them. Or that they can digest it- dogs can't really digest vegetables. They don't chew enough to break open the plant cell walls, and food intake spends very little time in the intestine so little to no bacterial fermentation takes place. It goes in, it goes out, and nothing really stays in the dog.
Dog might enjoy chomping on it, sure, so go right ahead.
