    Default My boy competed his first trials yesterday and ribboned!-pics added

    We took George to his first event yesterday at Jumping Branch, tadpole division . This was his first show since coming off the track, and coming to me in March. He had the summer off for my pregnancy and we got down to the training grind about 10 weeks ago.

    He was such a good boy-had a really hard time not watching horses run xc next to dressage during his test, so he looked like a hunter...but was dead acurate and ended with a 35 tied for 3! Had a rough stadium warm up-didn't handle horses galloping by very well at all but once he was alone in stadium he was a rock star! I have some issues cantering fences due to some nasty old injuries, but we are over coming. Clean Stadium.

    Straight to his first real cross country run! He didn't peak at the first judge (or leaf ), and carried me to every fence (we ran the BN course). When we got to ditch the and I convinced him it was ok to just trot it, I swear he took it like it was just in the way and needed to get to the next fence which was about 3 strides away! Didn't even notice it was there! Honey badger don't care!

    Yesterday was a huge stepping stone for me in my journey back to 'fearless riding' and I just had to share our first outing. We double cleared and finished 2nd out of 12!!! We will spend the rest of the winter working out kinks at CT's, but 2012 BN here we come! So excited!

    Aargh! I'm going thru show withdrawal up here and you guys are still having fun! Way to go and congrats!
    Experience is the hardest teacher. The test comes first, the lesson afterward.

    It was special all right-he expelled more energy dancing sideways in stadium warm up than he did actually jumping the fences! But thats ok, all i wanted was good behavior and to stay on, much less a ribbon- so we got 3/4 of my goal!

    Don't really have any good pics, as stadium was SO small, my dressage looked like a hunter round, and hubby forgot to put the camera in sport mode, but here are a few! So proud
