It's official: I hate Daylight Savings time: Correction I hate Standard Time
on a related note, anyone have any recommendations for solar-powered arena lights?

I HATE IT TOO!!
Its already dark when I get home at 5:45pm. Forget riding, I dont even have enough light to clean stalls! (No electricity in the barn). Using a spot light and a head light is already getting old.
Ugh.

Try living in the PNW, where we are farther north than some of you guys, and it is always gray/cloudy/raining--it is dark by 4:15 in December around here . On the other hand, it is finally light in the AM for me to clean stalls again! Yay!

Ditto And in a few weeks, it will not only be dark when I get home from work but it will also be dark when I LEAVE for work too. My cubicle is in the center of the building where there are no windows or natural light. And then I will slowly start to go insane...

Ugh I know. It's so depressing.
For solar power it would probably be pretty spendy to get panels powerful enough to light an arena. My husband and I were looking at panels just for camping and the one panel (to run a tiny fridge and keep the trailer battery charged) runs around $1200. Eeps! So I can only imagine how much it would be for an arena setup.

Ugh. Me too!!! We STILL don't have lights up, so riding this week is out unless we go for a moonlight ride....
Is it spring yet??

Ugh.
Same here. Goodbye riding other than on weekends from now until the days lenghthen.
No arena, either. Maybe if I can coordinate the full moon with no cloud cover and snow cover, I can get a ride in here and there. Winter. Peh.

I despise it as well. I fail to see any benefit whatsoever and it just screws with my day!

The tanning bed REALLY does help if you need some vitamin D.
(Although ive also heard you can buy vitamin d lamps for your home/office. I would rather get tan AND get vitamin D!)

I hate it too! All I hear on the radio in the mornings on my way to work is "Yay standard time this and yay standard time that." I freaking hate it! We have lights in our arena, but it just isn't the same

It's so good for the mood and when you are always cold like me, it warms you up in the cold month as well. Something you just can't really exploit in the office!

My plan is to win the lottery, then hibernate. I will make sure all creatures have ample supplies of food. I will rouse myself around noonish to clean and water.

Tan? Begging for cancer Natural daylight bulbs are far safer and more productive . There are no "vitamin D" lamps. Your body makes D from sunlight and it really doesn't take long.
Go for a walk outside at lunch.
If you're flexible in your work hours, shift an hour later and do something outside in the morning if possible.
Well, being that I have to pop pills for the time being for deficiency, 15 minutes in the people toaster a week is not going to cancerify you.
It brightens the mood and warms you up....

Amen alagirl! We southern belles appreciate a nice tan however we can get one! Moderation is the key. And I too want to ride the whine train on it getting dark at 5:30. Thankfully I work 7-3 so if I hurry I can get a couple rides in during the week.
