    Default Puissance 6' 11" - Bareback!!

Swedishbased Irish rider John Hickey won the Puissance last weekend at the Oslo Horse Show (WC Qualifier) jumping 6' 11" BAREBACK!!

Just imagine landing bareback after a jump like that...

    Wink Wow!

Leave it to an irishman to jump that height....bareback. The picture is insane...I wish we could find a landing picture!

Wonder if he's singing soprano these days?

I find it particularly amusing that the horse's name is "Cactus."

Is there a video of the jump? We were talking about it in one of my classes on Tuesday and someone said there was, but couldn't quickly find it.

Yes, that is a remarkably humorous name given the circumstance that even my non-horsey (but perverse at times) father commented on when I showed him the picture.. Simply lovely looking horse, though!

Whatever you do, don't google "hickey bareback" looking for pics about it. Apparently, most people are looking for horses...

It's a shame they're somebody else's FB pics because there's someone who has some great shots from Oslo, many of them great ones from the puissance! Believe me the landing shots looks painful. :S

In the meantime you guys should look up the costumes the riders wore at Oslo this year. Priceless!!

I love the 5 bar contests. Me and my handy camera caught this one:

Winning round was "only" 6'6" but still pretty amazing to watch.

There were some eventers who did this too. Well..not 6'11"....just 6'2"...but that is tall enough thank you very much.

There were landing pictures for Jennie somewhere...very smooth.

It's a fun class done between the divisions at a larger event. If riders knock the fence, they can remove an article of clothing to stay in and try again. Was originally done in England. Highly entertaining.

How can you find the costumes that the riders were wearing?

Well I had friends there, so they took pictures. I found that video because the girl who made it is a little icon in the Norwegian equestrian scene. I'll see if I can find anymore.

I can only find one picture on the horse show's website (of my favourite costume of the ones I saw, actually!) and I also was looking at a friend's pictures.
