    Default Quick USEA membership question...

My horse will be competing with another rider in a few weeks. I am trying to register the horse on the USEA dashboard, but it won't let me register the horse without the "rider's" USEA number. Do I have to be a USEA member in order to register my horse?

    Thanks.

the USEA has a very good page describing the membership requirements at the various levels.

    http://www.useventing.com/resources/...IREMENTS_1.pdf

The OWNER does not have to be a USEA member at any level.

The RIDER must be a USEA member except for BN, where there is an option for a non-member fee. That is why it is asking for the rider's USEA number, not the owner's.

Hmmm . . . doubt if she's even thought about that with everything else going on in her life right now. Not sure if she joined this year but I can't remember when Bitzi left. With Pay laid up she would only have had Bitz to show . . .

If there are any problems, the show staff will probably let you know before they let you the competition packet. I only know this because my horse ran her first recognized event last August with another rider and I thought I did everything correctly, but it turns out I had to register my horse with the USEA also because she was running novice. I filled out the form in the office and everything was good to go.

Just make sure you bring a check to the show office just in case!

Thanks Janet, I looked all over their website for a FAQ.

The USEA's online horse registration requires a rider's membership ID number. That makes no sense to me because I am just registering the horse, not signing up for a specific competition or anything. I will give them a call tomorrow.

Yes, they should make it easier to find that document.
