    Default Release of Liability

Does anyone have an example of a waiver that would be signed by the horse owner to release a rider from liability if the horse is injured while under the rider's control? Is there a reason this isn't done more often?

I'm going to foxhunt a horse for a friend, but I want to make sure I won't be held liable if the horse gets injured!

Yes. It's right there next to the release of liability you need to sign before I drive your car that absolves me of damage done by while I'm driving it...

Heads up, if your friend is injured on her horse, her waiver isn't going to stop her insurance company coming after you and/or your insurance company.

    Coreene,

Thanks for your response but I think you misread... I'm looking for something that will release me from liability if her horse gets hurt while I'M riding it. I'm riding the horse for her as a favor to get him some miles in the hunt field. My horse sustained a nearly catastrophic freak injury last year hunting... $8,000 later, he's as good as new. Thankfully, I have him insured. I'm sure my friend doesn't have insurance on her horse, and I certainly can't pay to fix him if something like that happens.

Not trying to be cheap, but I'm doing her a favor, not the other way around.

Are either you or your friend a trainer?

Nope, not a professional trainer. Just an amateur trying to help out another amateur.
