Does anyone have an example of a waiver that would be signed by the horse owner to release a rider from liability if the horse is injured while under the rider's control? Is there a reason this isn't done more often?
I'm going to foxhunt a horse for a friend, but I want to make sure I won't be held liable if the horse gets injured!
Thanks for your response but I think you misread... I'm looking for something that will release me from liability if her horse gets hurt while I'M riding it. I'm riding the horse for her as a favor to get him some miles in the hunt field. My horse sustained a nearly catastrophic freak injury last year hunting... $8,000 later, he's as good as new. Thankfully, I have him insured. I'm sure my friend doesn't have insurance on her horse, and I certainly can't pay to fix him if something like that happens.
Not trying to be cheap, but I'm doing her a favor, not the other way around.
