Default Spinoff: Your fav retro pictures

Hey all, I loved the thread on the fav pix of the season. Got me thinking about all the pix I have. Sadly, I only have access to a couple at the moment. However, I would love to see photos anyone would like to share from back in the day. First horse show? First horse? Something near and dear to your heart, not from this season.

I don't have a copy with me, but the one I think about is my first horse show with Dreamer. Champion in SS..tho I had no idea what that meant or that I won it. But the picture cracks me up b/c of an ill fitting helmet.

    Plz share!!!

This is one from my last year as a junior (1993): http://good-times.webshots.com/photo...94686761uiFhRt

I HAD to have my blue rubber reins, blue fuzzy girth, blue bell boots, blue trimmed saddle pad, and blue and white Ulsters. I was so mad that I couldn't ever track down one of the blue breast girths (though my horse definitely qualified for needing a 5-point had they existed....hence the double breast plate-age), I thought it would have looked so lovely, but sadly they had to come from Germany since it was before the fad hit the states. Apparently I hadn't heard of the "put one back" rule of accessorizing Oh, and I loved my brass clincher bridle which I have recently brought back out of the closet and get more comments on than anything else I own (http://pets.webshots.com/photo/29020...94686761ycmzpL).

Fordtraktor - love the photos...especially the bareback jumping shot!

dani0303 - that last shot is an awesome photo!

Love the blue and white, PNWjumper! Ishy was sporting the white trim look. I too needed to, um, focus on putting maybe three back. And getting glasses that didn't slide down my nose....

    Great pics, all.

Okay this may have been my first h/j show. I had just gotten this mare off the track. Check out the brown breeches AND brown hunt coat. I was STYLIN'. haa. Riding a giraffe, no less. This was '90 or '91: http://s740.photobucket.com/albums/x...rfirstyear.jpg

And a year or so later, 1992: http://s740.photobucket.com/albums/x...nte_Page_1.jpg

I need to scan some of my favorite pics of me riding as a kid. They're mostly western, though!

    Keep the pictures coming.

First horse show. That pony was quite the precious packer and I was thrilled.

    "Paradox- Wow! in a year??"

Okay, I had to actually go look at some old VHS tapes I have. Talk about retro! But the dates are about 1 year and 8 months. So, closer to two years. I was lucky to get a very nice mare off the track. She was afraid of ground poles at first, but she learned quickly. I miss her!

Here's one more of the big girl. This was summer of '92 before that other show picture. Crappy photo, but it was a fun schooling session, I remember. http://s740.photobucket.com/albums/x...oHoxAcres4.jpg

Here I am at a schooling show in 1982 on my hot, hot, hot little Apendix mare.

I am getting left, but trying hard to catch up. I was 13 in this picture.

These are from the 80's on my pony. I'm so fond of these because he gave me so much happiness in my childhood.

Not me in the pic, but of the little girl I sold Miz Scarlett to back in '88 at one of their first shows together. I've just always loved it, such a sweet pic and they both look so happy together.

I'm not sure this link will work, but if it does...

I am amazed at some of these!! Faraway, how crazy and how fantastic!

Here's my contribution! My first horse show evah, on my first horse. I was seven, she was three (and an Arab, gasp gasp gasp). I can still remember that day....wow. I remember my mom spent gawd knows how long french braiding my hair, only to have to take it down because my helmet wouldn't go on over it. It was a w/t class, I had only been lessoning for a little while and I don't think Aisha was cantering u/s reliably yet, ha. I got SECOND!! I remember that ridiculous helmet and how wide the straps were, you can see them in the picture even.

This was 1989. Here's a flashback of a different kind, the day I got Aisha, my mom took this picture of me wearing jellies (anyone remember those, weird little sandal things?) and these 80s clothes with shorts under the skirt and all one thing you step into. Oh lord, hahaha.
