I briefly had a young one eyed horse who tragically died in an accident. His name was Halim when I got him but I was going to rename him One Eye Jack, just Jack for short but he died before I could officially get his name changed. I always liked this name.

Default When you said long and lanky

for some reason, I just went back in my mind to the old song:

    "Fast talkin' slow walkin'
    good lookin' Mohair Sam"

How 'bout Mohair Sam, and just Sam as a call name?

We adopted a one eyed cat. My son named him Blinky but we often refer to him as the "one-eyed fat cat".

Rooster, after Rooster J. Cogburn in True Grit who had an eye patch.

We named our kitten that (he had a swollen eye when we found him) but I would be glad to share the name if you like it!

Other than that, Wink Martingale is super cute too!

Lots of good suggestions!!! So far I really like Oliver, Wink (Winky), Blinky and Rooster Oh and Foster!

He is quite a funny boy and LOVES people I can't wait so see him outside exploring but he has to stay in the tack room for a couple more days.

Good on you! Our barn is far too close to the house (as in 28 steps from patio to barn door) to ever have "barn cats"

Our most recent addition to the Boy Cat Herd indoors is Pirate Bob. He is a year old, solid gray, Persian cross with one frosted over yellow eye. He's also mean as all get out, feisty, bouncy, talkative and will eat anything. He came with a little partner, Cap'n Patches, a small white kitten with a gray patch over one eye. They make quite a pair.

I love Oliver or Blinky as names.

    He's adorable!

I'm with your daughter, I like Steve. He needs a strong, handsome name. Steve is derived from the greek name for crown and originally came from a greek term for honor or award. (My brother's name is Steve and my earthy parents were all into the greek names....)

    Congratulations.

    I really like One Eyed Jack . . . and Wink(y) . . . and Rooster!

I'm no help, I even like the name Steve. But he is VERY handsome! And good on you for taking him in.
Every one of them had that look of a girl infatuated with horses, the happy, fated look of a passenger setting sail on the Titanic.

DD seems to like Oliver as well athough DH does not. We were calling him Oliver tonight and it seems to suit him.

I took him out of the tack room this afternoon and put him in a large cage and put him outside so he could look around the farm and meet the others cat while being safe. He laid on his blanket and took in all the sights for several hours. I had to run an errand so I put his cage in the breeze way so he could get used to the sounds and sight of the horses. I don't think that it will take long for him to stick around the farm on his own.

My two barn cats are free to come and go as they please but they are very savvy about dangers. I worry a bit about Oliver missing an eye so I might just lock him in the tack room at night to keep him a bit safer. He only lost his eye a month ago and doesn't seem to have his balance back.

I sure do like this guy..........he was GREAT find

Congrats on such a cool cat. I like the name Steve too - someone on COTH has a cat named "Steve from Accounting" (tht is who gave them the cat) - my favorite cat neme ever! What's the name of the hardware store - Ace? That would "suit" the one-eye and the hardware connection and is a cool name!

Hey, I think a desk fell on your dog!

Is that a 'buried under your work' kind of deal?
