Default Best Line Ever... teacher to student

Was reminded of this the other day:

My friend to her student, upon ending their relationship "you have too many voices inside your head. I am taking mine out now"

This still makes me choke on my drink, I am laughing so hard...

    LOL I love it!

A few weeks ago while at the county fair, Mr. FG told me that he thinks QHs always like thirsty. I was like...huh? And he said you know, with their heads hanging down on the ground like that.....

I'm ashamed to admit - "why don't you just get off the f-ing horse and lay down in the f-ing dirt? Because if you keep on riding like that, you're going to end up there anyway and you're just wasting my time waiting for you to get there!"

One of my favorites, after somebody does something well:

"Do that again, so I know it wasn't an accident!"

My friend being eyes on the ground for me regarding shoulder-in: "When he loses his balance in the SI, you should just go ahead and do a 10 meter circle and rebalance him because (here is the funny part) if it starts off bad, it is only gonna get badder." This from a well educated woman who is usually quite well spoken. It hit my funny bone that day, but, I swear to you I hear that line every time I work on SI.

You're taking 10 years off that horse's life riding him like that

I was always partial to Mom's line when I was learning to ride saddleseat:

"What the He!! are you doing up there? You got her strung out like a HUNTER!"

    Really?

I'd be liable to jump off the horse, leave him for someone else to catch, and walk right to my car never to be seen there again if I was spoken to that way.

I thought it was a pretty creative way to tell someone to get their head out of a dark and scary place and start paying attention to what they are doing.

    Shrug.

There's a reason that you were ashamed to admit that.

Student-teacher relationship. As in, student is no longer student. Let's not get crazy now!

Mine from a dressage judge in our area known for being a bit, um, tough:

"Cute horse but have you considered taking up golf?"

Yes, I have finally gotten over being mortified by that comment. We won our test under the judge the following weekend so I guess we were having a particularly bad day.

    This was many years ago...

"Contact is required for all movements of dressage including the halt you might try it!" Helpful advice as I was careening around the arena at a very uncontrolled gallop on a fantastically wicked arab mare.
"Your seat bones can leave the saddle on occasion, it won't kill the horse." Western rider me did not want to post, 2 point was out of the question.

As I go around the ring in a state of total confusion, turning right:
"No, go left!! Left!! The other left!!

    And, of course, the perennial,
    "That horse is a SAINT!"

"Ah, you feel that? That's what it feels like. Now try to get there again. Don't worry, you'll become more fluent."

    "Don't over think it."

"Try to relax. Close your eyes, and feel it."

"You're getting alot of information, but you have to filter it through you."

"Don't ride the whole test. Ride each part as an individual test. You're getting ahead of yourself so you're riding movements ahead and not the movement you're in".

"What happened there? Exactly, no half halt. You've got to to give him a heads up."

Judge to me after a dressage test, "You deserved that buck." (I think I was the only one she talked to that day. sigh)
