Pan Am show jumping team - What do they need for olympics?
Hi everyone!
Do you know what the USA team needs to get at Pan Am this year to qualify for the olympics? Do they just need to medal - or win?
Thanks in advance!

USA needs a top three placing at Pan Ams to qualify for the Olympics. However, with Canada already qualified, USA can actually be top 4 and still qualifiy should Canada place ahead of them.

Lets hope our best actually go to the Pan Am Games and we don't send a B or C squad...while others stay home in favor of the big money GPs.

The team has already been selected. I would call it an A team.

What other countries usually do the Pan Am games, anyway?

It is for this hemisphere, North and South America and nearby island nations (the Carribean).
Relief to see that team list, certainly A level and well seasoned, has not always been the case for past Pan Am Games when the slot for the Olympics was already assured.

Actually both Canada and Brazil qualified at WEG, so we only need to be top 3 not counting CAN and BRA. If we don't manage that, but Mexico does, then we get the sole individual slot allocated to North America. If neither USA or MEX gets a team in, but Mexico has a higher placed individual at Pan Ams, then they get the individual place and we don't go at all. Qualification procedures:

I'm thinking if we can't manage that (bad luck aside), then maybe we aren't ready for the Olympics this time!
(I'm not surprised that when a berth is assured, we send mix of A, B and C riders, that's how you get those up and coming riders seasoned for really big events where the pressure is on 110%)

Are the listed riders committed to go? Barring injury or illness of course.

It looks like www.usefnetwork.com will show some of it, or at least the US riders.

Looks like another small change to the US team as Laura Kraut and Cedric can no longer make it with the quarantine restrictions/travel logistics for Cedric coming from Europe.
Team:
Beezie Madden/Coral Reef Via Volo
McClain Ward/Antares F
Christine McCrea/Take One
Kent Farrington/Uceko
Alternate:
Mario Deslauriers/Urico
