Oh, I love him!!! Congratulations! Yours really looks a lot like mine did when I brought him home from the track...I'm looking for photos of my guy when I first got him. For now, all I can find are some of me on him, but I'll keep digging because the resemblance is striking.

I could gush on and on about how awesome he is... he was so laid back tonight, just chillin, grazing at the end of the lead shank. This is an TB fresh off the track on stall rest eating rocket fuel?? Just loafing here with his face planted in the grass? Very pleasantly surprised!

My poor Facebook friends are getting flooded with pictures and horsey status updates. I'm sure a few have blocked me!

    Oooo-la-la.

    Really.

I just signed back in to say that, too. I mean - wow - and I'm pretty fussy with conformation.

What charisma, too. He's massive and he seems like such a go getter. And a great color.

I think you found a special, special horse. Please keep us updated.

    Big congrats ! !

Yea? He came out of the stall, and discovered he pulled a shoe earlier in turnout. Then when we jogged him around he moved out beautifully...we were pleasantly surprised.

My mare was bred by Marcia Wolfe and Gary Brockmeyer and she's a heavy girl haha. He's handsome and if he's anything like my mare he's going to be a blast.

Cute mare! And I love that blanket!!
I think Marcia must have a nice eye for horses... everything I've seen from her has been really good looking. She just sold a 3 year old named Hooligan that was a drop dead gorgeous mover, beautiful conformation. I saw him when I went to see Al but I was looking for a heavier horse for fox hunting. Hooligan was actually a better choice for a show hunter... very very fancy. He sold sight unseen to South Dakota!

That is one of the nicest canter horses I've ever seen, and I make a point of drooling over them!

    Update!

It's been a little over a year now since I brought Al home. He was on stall rest for a month, then months of turnout with just a couple of trail rides thrown in. I meant to start working him starting in the spring/late winter but life got in the way. I got engaged and married and planning the wedding killed my free time. He was recovering from his bowed tendon suffered in his last race so the more time off the better anyhow.

Three months ago he got put back to work. First teaching him it was OK to move forward. He really just wanted to walk and sucked back. It was hard to work him properly at the facility where I was. The ring was too hard so I schooled him in a big open field. We moved barns and he's been so much more relaxed. He can really move out comfortably in the ring and has learned to use his back and accept contact.

He's started hunting now and he's been a gem! Very adjustable as long as I remember to ride with my seat and not to get in his mouth. We got some lovely photos this weekend. Enjoy!

He is really sweet. So happy for you, my guy still hates the wildlife and could not hunt at this time. Good job on the training.

He looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing!

I have had my CANTER cutie for a year now as well and I am so very pleased with him. He has been in training since June and is doing great (moving forward was his big issue as well...darn those runaway ex-racers ). He will turn four in March and we will see what he can do over fences then. Hopefully I'll have myself a little jumper
