    Default Riots in England

What is your opinion of the riots in England?

Is it some young people wanting to loot and steal for no good reason? Or is it people sick and tired of goverment officials more concerned about making decisions in their own best interest over the best interest of the country itself?

With so much displeasure toward policiticians in this country do you think there will ever be an 'revolution' against the current system or are people just complaining without really wanting to do anything to foster change?

To blame this on "gangs" is simplistic and an ultimate denial.

It's quite global and I fear the beginning of some very nasty political unrest, maybe even class warfare.

    Cake anyone?

The UK has had social unrest for decades in one form or another. Nothing new there. Will it escalate further? Probably. But who knows what the next catalyst will be.

Whether the cause is social unrest or greed, these people are destroying their own communities. How is that going to solve anything?

I live in central Manchester and was disgusted with the looting. I don't think what happened in Manchester made any kind of political statement, it was theft and criminal damage pure and simple. Setting fire to Miss Selfridge, wooo that's one hell of a statement (not).

I think it was just idiots looking for an excuse to cause trouble. I hope they're all dealt with harshly.

I agree with Kookicat. And I read that many looted items are now for sale on craigslist or other sites. And some of the looters were as young as seven years old too.

This is simplistic and silly. We will all suffer the long term consequences of the breakdown of society if we chose to dismiss the underlying reasons.
