Talking Guess what I found at the used book store?

Making The Running, Ian Balding's autobiography! Hardback and in excellent condition, no less. Cost me all of 99 cents.

It's only just now getting into the meat of his racing career - the first 100 or so pages are mostly about his school days and athletics. It opens with Mill Reef's breakdown, and Balding confirmed what I'd always heard - that Mill Reef was about the most sensible and gentlemanly horse going, a real sweetheart. There's a pic of him in a full leg cast, plaster from hoof to elbow. A true miracle he recovered.

    Lucky you!

Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy, or beauty without vanity? - The horse. (R.Duncan)
