Am so sorry. Got a young one once whose siblings had been killed by a raccoon
and had a few scratches. Very full of fleas and parasites and thin. Trip to vet, so so progress, then weekend at the emergency vet, came home doing better, started losing appetite, died in my hands while trying to get food down her.
She had a lot of spunk--had named her Lucy of Lucy and Ricky fame. Fluffy
black and white with gorgeous markings.
You can only try and hope....sometimes they just don't make it. Thanks for
trying.

Aww I am so very sorry for your loss. Yes there is endless catnip, butterflies to chase and all the love you gave him goes with him over the bridge. Such tiny things can leave such big holes in our hearts. You loved him well for the short time he had. Thank you for having such a big heart.

oh ,how sad. God bless you for caring for him. At least he knew what love and care was.

Thank you too, abbydp and shiloh. It helps so much to come here and find expressions of sympathy.
People at work didn't even ask how he was, but were sorry to hear he had died when I told them.
I just still miss him and feel so sad. He was just with us for 1 week and I know he could have died a terrible death out there by the side of the road. Still ...

I am so very sorry.
Thank you for caring for this blue-eyed boy" for taking on the hassle, expense, and emotional roller coaster that someone else created.
You gave him love, warmth, food, security, the best care, and spared him from a gruesome death out in the world alone.
Folks like you give the entire animal-loving community a boost when the rest of humanity's callousness gets us down.
Thank you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. A week doesn't seem like a long time, but it is more than enough time to become hugely attatched. You know you did all you could to make the baby's short life as good as it could be. Thank you for trying. Some things are just not meant to be. {{{{{{{{{{ HUGS }}}}}}}}}}

Thanks, sk_pacer, Bicoastal and incentive, and everyone who posted with suggestions and feedback and sympathy. Your words have helped so much.
We are going to try to set up a fund at the clinic of the vet who took such good care of the Tiger Kit. They already take donations of cat food, etc., for local rescuers and we are going to see about putting up a container for people to drop in coins (or bills) for a fund for local rescuers.
Waiting to hear back from them.

So sorry for your loss RPM.
I foster a lot of kittens and I totally know how it feels to lose one that you have really come to know and love. Sometimes they seem to rally and look better, only to falter soon after...so very sad . I always try to remember them in the moments that they know they are loved, warm and well fed. You did your best, no one could have done more.
RIP little blue eyes, enjoy kitty heaven.

I'm so sorry for your loss. But at least he had a week of being loved, rather than dying alone beside the road.
I picked up a cat that had been hit by a car a few weeks ago. My DH, mother and I were on our way out to dinner and the car in front of us swerved slightly and went over a cat laying in the middle of a 4 lane rd. We did the same, to avoid having the tires run it over...but right before our car went over, it raised it's head up. I screamed at my DH "It's ALIVE! It's NOT dead! We have to go back!"
After driving a little ways, we turned around and went back. I jumped out, and scooped it up on a towel. It moved it's head a little, but it's skin was gray, and gums pale. I took him to a vet that is open late, and rushed him in. They said they'd look at him, and I told them that I didn't want him to suffer, so if they couldn't fix him, to euth him, and I'd pay for it. Unfortunately, they came back out a few minutes later and said he had died.
I comforted myself knowing that at least he passed on with someone there, and not alone in the road, suffering.
