Default Best repro vets in Northern VA?

Yes, just did a search on this (since I know it has been discussed before), and for some reason, nothing came up.

Would you folks "in the know" be willing to indulge me, and repeat your recommendations?

    TIA!

Dr. Bill Ley...he wrote the book on it . He's also the one that developed the mare milk test. I'm sure others in the area can recommend some others. Good luck!

Dr. Bill Ley by a long shot...... I have a mare in foal to Bretton Woods thanks to his skills and determination and wish I had known him 20 years ago!

I wouldn't use Dr. Ley, just personal preference. I prefer Dr. Dippert at Equine Reproduction Concepts over anyone. I also like Dr. Del Vento at APEX equine, if he is available.

I would never recommend Dr. Ley. 10 frozen doses on three mares , $ 7,000 vet bill + $ 3,000 worth of semen , never an embryo. Brought all 3 mares home , went with a different vet , all 3 caught first try.

If he wrote a book on anything , he appeared to forget about it when breeding my mares ! This is MY experience with him. Never again.

Equine Repro Concepts gets em bred. So far , with the mares I know of , Dr. Dippert is about 90% first time conception

Love, love Dr. Vito and Dr. Dippert. They did my ETs this year and were able to get my maiden mare pregnant on one dose, harvest 2 embryos (double ovulation), and ship them to Ohio where they were successfully implanted into recipient mares and are doing well past 60 days. The mare is only 4, had just been imported, is in full training, and had changed barns 5 times in 3 weeks when she was bred (i.e., not ideal conditions to promote fertility).

And Dr. Dippert is one of the only vets in this area who is successfully freezing embryos.

Sounds like we pretty much have a consensus, here

I put their website on my favorite places, just need to call them (I thought their prices were pretty reasonable, and they aren't a million miles away--bonus!)

    Thanks all!

Ellen Stephens with Laurel Inc. She is just amazing and her facilities are gorgeous. Got my maiden mare in foal no problems on the 1st try. very proactive and keeps even the most paranoid owners (like myself) in the know and assured with the process.
