A trainer recently recommended that I try my FEI horse in a mullen mouth rubber snaffle instead of his KK.
I'd like to get something like the HS Duo or the Nathe since they are somewhat shaped and more flexibile/softer. I also saw a shaped Happy Mouth in the catalog that looked interesting. I read the rulebook and it seems like these are not legal. Has anyone confirmed this? Am I stuck with either the straight Happy Mouth or the straight black rubber dogbone?
Thanks all. Janet- that guide is very helpful, but I'm afraid it raised even more questions.
If I understand this right, 1.A on page 10 shows the bits that are legal for intro-fourth. I.B.1 shows the curbs and bradoons that are legal for 3rd-FEI. I.B.2 shows the snaffles that are legal at FEI. Is that right?
Here's what I gather...
HS Duo loose ring/Nathe - legal for intro-fourth (unless you consider it ported?). Not legal for FEI as snaffle or bradoon.
Happy Mouth shaped loose ring - not legal for anything
HS WH ultra or ultra soft - CDI only as snaffle or bradoon
non-shaped mullen mouth - legal for intro - fourth (1.A), legal for FEI as snaffle I.B (not legal as bradoon?)
KK loose ring snaffle with "wings" - legal intro-fourth, FEI ??, CDI ??
