I vote for El Espiritu. I have been around him at shows and he has a good work ethic and temperment. I believe he will be an FEI horse in the future. I would be fearful of breeding to totally different types. I am sure his owner would be happy to talk to you about this subject.

Over the weekend I spoke with an AWS & Friesian Sport Horse breeder and she mentioned that crossing with a jumper oftentimes helps to improve the canter, because their canters are so strong and correct. Can anyone speak to this?

Just wanted to throw that into the mix for your stallion considerations.

Thank you for the continued feedback but the decision has been made complete with Plans B and C given Oskar's age.

I do like El Espiritu, but probably not for a cross with a Percheron. I'm not crazy about the winging the Iberians tend to do and am afraid that might get exaggerated in a draft cross, not to mention, some of the Iberian/draft crosses I've seen are heavier than my ideal.

Aside from Trakehner and TB, I still very much like the Saddlebred stallion to Percheron mare cross. It is surprisingly nice.

Alot of those are a Friesian/Saddlebred/Draft cross which I'm not as crazy about, and prefer the Saddlebred to Percheron or other draft cross.

Head over to the H/J forum and check out a recent thread on Arab h/j. Someone posted pics of their perch/arab, who appears to be both adorable and a great jumper. Never would have thought of it but now I want one!

They do have many Friesian crosses, but they have had good success with PercheronXSaddlebreds. They no longer breed them because they lost their Saddlebred stallion. I just thought you might enjoy paging through their reference horses
