The first one made me want to barf! the others not as bad, kinda pretty although not my style. I wouldn't want to ride in one, even if for a parade. It's something that should be on display or something.
Oh my, I wondered under what circumstances you would have had what looked like a pro photo of you taken with your saddle pad!!
anyway, I admire the ebayer for her dedication to her craft! Doing one of those saddles had to take hours and she looks like she has quite the inventory. But Yikes MIke! that's a wild and crazy bunch of saddles. Curiosity ahd me wanting to see one in person but don't look to me to bid on one just for the chance!!
I agree with Ghazzu, I love the traditional parade silver mount saddles with all the accessories. If you can even find them, they're very pricey, but wouldn't you feel amazingly cool prancing down a parade sitting in one of those? I know I would. I rode with a parade group for several years, and once you got over the terror factor, they were pretty fun.
ETA: This pic was taken from the website I bought the pad from. This is not me posing with my pad
Uh huh, suuuuuure it's not.
I actually just bought a 1930's parade-style saddle as a restoration project. I'm trying to find tack made around the same time - martingale collar, hip drops etc. that I can either restore or use as a pattern to make copies, which is why I was searching for parade gear on ebay to start with.
I'm sorry but those are the gaudiest, ugliest things I've ever seen. I too prefer the good, old fashioned, silver bedecked parade saddles. I would never be tempted to actually own one but I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to ride in one in an actual parade.
