    Default Blind barn cat

My barn kitty is 1 yr old and suddenly went blind this weekend. None of the other cats show symptoms. There is a cloudiness over both eyes. the poor thing is depressed. Any Ideas what this could be?

Are you positive the kitty can't see, or is there just the cloudiness?

I rescued a kitten who had bilateral eye infections at just a few weeks old. As he got a little older he developed cloudiness of both eyes which responded to cortisone drops, some kind of corneal edema. He was able to see through the cloudiness and lived that way for several years.

I suspect the virus that caused it also damaged his kidneys because he was eventually lost quite young (age 6) to kidney failure. One of the forum vet posters might know if this is a corona virus, herpes, or what.

Kitty needs a vet exam...it's impossible to tell what "cloudiness" means. On the cornea, in the anterior chamber, is it a cataract, etc?

Eye problems scream VET. Prompt attention can be the difference between permanent blindness or not.
