    Question Hoof cracks

My daughter's Percheron TB is having chronic problems with cracks in her front hooves. Are there any suggestions for a topical treatment that anyone has had success with other than keeping her in shoes? She's 1400lbs. and 17HH.

Trim and reset on a more frequent basis. The cracks are the hoof telling you "I'm out of balance or too long."

No external goop, balm, salve or goo will do anything except set up an unhealthy environment.

Good hooves come from the inside. Eliminate sugar intake wherever possible. Put in good stuff, especially minerals needed for strong hoof growth.

agreed with what Chocomare says. Check out low sugar low starch feeds like Triple Crown or something similar. Switch to a four week trimming/farrier schedule until this issue is corrected and then lengthen to six week. Find a very knowledgeable farrier/trimmer and work with them!!
