[Just Not Native]

OK. I can't stand the look of "helmet head" after I ride. In the winter, it's no problem I just put on a knitted hat, but what about the summer? I look awful in baseball hats, and a kerchief just makes me think of my Polish grandmother! Does anyone have a suggestion? I love the straw hats see in some dressage venues, but I don't want to scream DRESSAGE DIVA - I'm not. I board at a jumper facility, that's laid back. Ideas???

I have a Scala "cowboy" hat. It's straw with a brim, so keeps sun off my face at shows as well as covering the helmet hair.

I wear Boonies once in a while. Kind of quirky but definately comfy and gets the job done. Sometimes I hate the tight feeling of a baseball hat especially after wearing a helmet.

If you like the look of Straw hats, why not just buy a straw hat? Who cares if you look like a "dressage diva" as long as you don't act like one?

You did not mention how long your hair is. I pull on a visor. I finger scrunch up my hair and on goes the visor. I look awful in baseball caps but the visor gives my hair some height and body.

It's the BARN. Who cares if your hair is flat and icky? Your horse doesn't care. Who cares if you think you don't look good in ball caps? I beat other people wouldn't think so and wouldn't think twice about it.

Are you at the barn for your horse and to have fun with him/her? Or to impress the barn mavens?

I wouldn't spend a lot of money on a special hat. But then again, that's just me.

I have a beautiful Scala hat that I use off and on during the summer...but I am a visor girl. I have a few visors... visor from my alma mater, my visor from my favorite local tack shop and my HRH visor...which I love for what it implies, even though it really stands for Hard Rock Hotel!
