Help! 3'6" horse for EAP May 2nd and 3rd needed!
DD was accepted for the zone 3 EAP level 1 that is scheduled for May 2nd and 3rd at the Virgina Horse Center. Her horse blew an abscess today and it is questionable if he will be sound for the clinic. Our trainer does not have any horses available for us to use. Anyone have a horse we can lease for the three days so DD can still participate! We are located in PA . My cell is 717-572-5383
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Zone 1 EAP didn't jump higher than 2'6. Don't panic about needing to find a 3'6 horse. Melanie can see the talented riders without needing them to jump high.

I would call every barn located near where the program is being held. That's what I did and I found an awesome mount I could lease for the weekend. Good luck!

Not too many commercial barns around Lexington, but there are many college riding programs. You may have success there. There are also 2 USEF AA rated shows there right now with many barns from all over.

Have your trainer look at the results for the Lexington show this week, on horseshowsonline.com . He or she may have contacts showing there who would be able to find or offer you a horse that's already there. Your best bet is for your professional to deal with another professional that's known to him or her.

That said, in my experience some trainers only look within their network and then give up the search as "hopeless" (espcially if they don't charge a commission )
Can't hurt to have both you and your trainer on the prowl, right?

Try Stonebridge farm - they are close to the horse center and usually have a couple big eq clients as well as numerous sales horses that could potentially get the job done.

Call Sweet Briar College. They have quite a few nice horses that are reserved specifically for the show teams that travel to all the big A shows. I'm sure they'd have something that would work, and they are only about an hour from the Virginia Horse Center.

Randolph College in Lynchburg is also about an hour away. The always had very nice competitive 3' horses for the students to ride in team stuff and shows.
Also Washington and Lee in Lexington has a team, but I'm not sure if the school has horses or they just ride out of a local barn.

Tackpud rocks!
I was going to say that the IHSA Nationals are next week, so it might have been difficult to line up one of those horses. Some of the VA schools are bringing horses to Nationals at the Lexington Horse Park in KY.
I hope your daughter has a wonderful time!

I'm happy to be of assistance. I'm going to bring 2 just in case... The EAP is such a great program and I hate to think of someone missing out just because her horse chose a bad week to get hurt. They are animals and everything that can happen to them does - and always at the wrong time.
I hope she has a great time!

Just happy I can help upcoming riders like I was so lucky to have wonderful professionals help me when I was younger. I don't think there's anything better than having a smile on a rider's face and the chance to learn from our nations top professionals. The EAP is a wonderful start to rebuilding the support of the national federation that the USET used to give riders.
